Bed and Breakfast Scheme

One of the tourism programmes of the government is the Bed and Breakfast Scheme. It is one of the wide range of schemes launched in recent years to boost the tourism potential of the country.

Bed and Breakfast Scheme

Under this scheme, the Ministry of Tourism sanctions home stay accommodations that meet certain criteria as ‘approved’ Bed and Breakfasts. To apply for the Bed and Breakfast Scheme, house owners need to offer guests up to 5 rooms or 10 beds, working space, air-conditioning facilities as well as attached western toilets. The house owner will also be required to provide Indian/ Continental breakfast to the guests and display the rates to be charged for rooms as well as breakfast.

The Ministry of Tourism proposes to give adequate publicity to recognized homes along with providing professional training to the house owners under the Capacity Building Programme. Once registered, establishments under the Bed and Breakfast Scheme will be promoted through the e-commerce platform of the Incredible India website. Also, a secure payment gateway will be created for online booking of products.
