The Scheme of Organization of Tourism Related Events is a central scheme of the Government of India. Under this scheme, the Ministry of Tourism provides financial assistance to States and Union Territories for organizing events for the promotion of tourism.
The Scheme of Organization of Tourism Related Events defines an event as a fair, festival, show, seminar, conclave or convention related to tourism. It should have a national or international character and lead to increased brand equity of the country. Local events are not eligible for assistance.
Loans under the Scheme of Organization of Tourism Related Events
Financial assistance is provided for only one event per State or Union Territory, in one financial year. This is subject to the availability of funds and the relevance of the event to being a national level tourist attraction.
The financial assistance given by the Ministry of Tourism under the Scheme of Organization of Tourism Related Events will not exceed Rs.15 lakhs for each event. A maximum amount of Rs.10 lakhs per annum will be given to the northeastern States irrespective of the number of festivals.
The funds provided through the Scheme of Organization of Tourism Related Events may be used to defray various expenses. These expenses include the creation of semi-permanent structures, seating arrangements, lighting, sound, remuneration to artists, lodging, boarding, production of posters, pamphlets, advertisements in newspapers, hiring of space, transportation and so on.
